Dead Space 2 Review

More like a "first impressions" post...
MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS
After playing the first 30-60 minutes, I've already had a few jumps and was more and more impressed at the work Visceral Games did with Dead Space 2.

First of all, my laptop (quite an old gaming laptop) isn't the best, and can barely run COD: Black Ops. But with the graphics set to medium and on a resolution of1280x720, DS2 (Dead Space 2) ran at a steady 30 fps which is really smooth. Even DS1 didn't run this smoothly. Even when in combat with necromorphs running/crawling/climbing towards Isaac (protagonist), there was not a single hiccup with my machine.
Now to the game play:
Right at the start, the game really pushes you into a heart racing pace, as you, Isaac, attempt to escape the hospital ward filled with necromorphs jumping out of almost every corner... without a weapon..
Later on when you do get a weapon, the similar combat feel of DS1 comes back, but with better upgrades. The producers really tried to make the telekinesis work this time around. In DS2, using telekinesis to impale enemies with their own claws or using poles lying around will most likely 1 shot normal enemies, as opposed to DS1 where it did almost nothing (exaggerated a bit here).
Just as in DS1, using the stasis module to slow down enemies is just as important as impaling them to kill them strategically.

I will continue to review the game as I play along for those who want to see the whole game. Though I would advise you to do yourself a favor and buy yourself a copy. You won't regret it.

If you are wondering if this is the game for you, don't think anymore, this is it. As a gamer that played all the F.E.A.R. series (that are out so far), Crysis, Mass Effect 2, and tons of others, I can say that this definitely mixes in the scares and excitement better than most games.
Your machine isn't the greatest? Mine ain't either. But it ran smooth as butter.
This game is a sure get.
